Events in and around Rockhampton Region

As the seasons change in the Rockhampton Region, so do the events. From festivals to markets, outdoor activities to indoor entertainment, there is always something fun and exciting to do in the area. Here are some of the seasonal events that you won't want to miss.

Summer

With the warm weather, summer is the perfect time to enjoy outdoor events in the Rockhampton Region. You can start by attending the Emu Park Summer Festival, a week-long celebration with live music, food stalls, and fireworks. Another summer favorite is the Yeppoon Lagoon Summer Sounds concert series, featuring local musicians performing at the beautiful Yeppoon Lagoon.

For something a bit more active, try the Great Keppel Island Swim, a 3.2km open water swim from Fisherman's Beach to Great Keppel Island. Or, head to the Kershaw Gardens for the Rockhampton River Festival, a two-day event with markets, music, and family activities.

Autumn

As the weather begins to cool off, the Rockhampton Region welcomes some of its most popular events. In autumn, the Mount Morgan Railway Museum hosts the Gold Rush Festival, celebrating the town's rich mining history with market stalls, live performances, and a street parade.

Another autumn highlight is the Rockhampton Show, a three-day event with agricultural competitions, carnival rides, and live music. And, if you're a foodie, don't miss the Capricorn Food and Wine Festival, featuring local chefs, wineries, and breweries.

Winter

While the Rockhampton Region may not experience extreme winters, there are still plenty of fun indoor events to enjoy. The Pilbeam Theatre presents a variety of shows throughout the season, from theater productions to concerts and comedy nights.

For something a bit more historical, visit the Archer Park Rail Museum for their annual High Tea on the Rails event, where you can enjoy a delicious tea spread while overlooking the historic steam train display. And of course, you can't miss the Rockhampton Riverfront Markets, which take place every second Sunday of the month and feature local produce, handmade crafts, and delicious food.

Spring

As the flowers start to bloom, the Rockhampton Region celebrates with some of its most colorful events. One of the highlights of spring is the Capricorn Coast Orchid and Foliage Show, where you can admire the stunning displays of orchids and other plants.

If you're looking for a bit of adventure, try the Fitzroy River Barra Classic, a fishing competition held on the Fitzroy River. Or, head to the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens for the Garden Tea Party, an elegant event with live music, delicious food, and stunning floral displays.

No matter what season it is, the Rockhampton Region has something for everyone. From small community events to large-scale festivals, there's always a reason to celebrate in this beautiful corner of Queensland.
